Unpacking the Relationship Between Job Separations and Firm Productivity: An Expert Elicitation AuthorsCaue Dobbin, Daniel Fernandez, Tom Zohar Completion Time5 Minutes Close Date (UTC)April 30, 2026 DisciplineEconomics FieldLabor Economics CountryOnline (many countries) Abstract This study investigates the micro-drivers of the well-established cross-sectional correlation between firm-level job separations and productivity. This survey asks for your views on the drivers of labor turnover. A well-established fact in labor economics is the negative cross-sectional relationship between firm productivity and worker separation rates. We seek expert opinions on whether this relationship is primarily driven by voluntary quits (Q) or involuntary layoffs (L).
